Focus on Life - Week 1

So a New Year dawns, and once again Sally Russick is inspiring us to Focus on Life by capturing evocative images...

I'm looking forward to meeting new people who have joined, along with those of us who participated last year. It was a wonderful weekly gathering :)

So let's get cracking!

Week 1: The Minimalist Photograph ~ Capture an image using a single subject

This is my favourite fruit at this time of year, but it looks so blah and rather unappetizing in black and white - minimalist in the extreme!

So, here it is in colour - YUM...

  1. It's incredible how monochrome makes an everyday object look so different. Great piccie.

  3. Actually I thought the black & white one in the linkze code was a sea urchin.... Yes oranges do look more appetizing in colour!

  4. Goodness, I am loving that photo of the orange in color - but your sharing it in b&w is a great illustration of how much difference there is, evoking feelings on the two photos!!!

  5. I like the B&W photo with the light reflecting off of the orange. But the color one looks like something I would want to eat.

  6. Makes me want to run out to the grocery store to buy some oranges. I agree that the colour photo looks much more appetizing but I love how you've experimented with the monochrome feature.

  9. Love your contrasting color and black and white photos. Love them both in totally different ways. The almost perfect round shape dominates the black and white version, but the color just screams from the color version. Thanks for giving us the two views.

  13. I just ate two they are so good (and tiny). Isn't wonderful how even with the colour gone you can tell straight off it's an orange

Great photos, I love the contrast. The black and white is interesting but the orange one looks so much more juicy.
