So a New Year dawns, and once again Sally Russick is inspiring us to Focus on Life by capturing evocative images...
I'm looking forward to meeting new people who have joined, along with those of us who participated last year. It was a wonderful weekly gathering :)
So let's get cracking!

Week 1: The Minimalist Photograph ~ Capture an image using a single subject
This is my favourite fruit at this time of year, but it looks so blah and rather unappetizing in black and white - minimalist in the extreme!
So, here it is in colour - YUM...
It's incredible how monochrome makes an everyday object look so different. Great piccie.
ReplyDeleteyum ... love oranges and they are so good this time of year!
ReplyDeleteActually I thought the black & white one in the linkze code was a sea urchin.... Yes oranges do look more appetizing in colour!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I am loving that photo of the orange in color - but your sharing it in b&w is a great illustration of how much difference there is, evoking feelings on the two photos!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the B&W photo with the light reflecting off of the orange. But the color one looks like something I would want to eat.
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to run out to the grocery store to buy some oranges. I agree that the colour photo looks much more appetizing but I love how you've experimented with the monochrome feature.
ReplyDeleteLooks good enough to eat.. I've always liked black and white photos.
ReplyDeleteOh Claire - great photograph. I love the black and white one especially. But you're right, the one w/color does make it more yummy!! My mouth is now watering,.....
ReplyDeleteLove your contrasting color and black and white photos. Love them both in totally different ways. The almost perfect round shape dominates the black and white version, but the color just screams from the color version. Thanks for giving us the two views.
ReplyDeleteA huge treat for us here - citrus is beyond expensive.
ReplyDeleteLove the contrast between the two photos!
ReplyDeleteI really like the black and white photo, but I really want an orange now after seeing the color one! GREAT photos!
ReplyDeleteI just ate two they are so good (and tiny). Isn't wonderful how even with the colour gone you can tell straight off it's an orange
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project! I love that you posted a color version and a b & w one.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, I love the contrast. The black and white is interesting but the orange one looks so much more juicy.
ReplyDeleteClaire your did a wonderful job showing the contrast. The second photo made my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteI agree. We just picked the last of the oranges off our tree in the back yard. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat subject and photo! You've really captured the texture and - love the color one! (mouth watering!)
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white photo - it made me look twice before realising what it was - what a difference the colour made!
